The first Dunlop tires were crafted in Belfast in 1888, when John Boyd Dunlop outfitted his son’s tricycle with sheets of canvas coated in liquid rubber to smooth the ride. Models with steel rods rolled out in 1922. Five years later, Captain Malcolm Campbell broke the land speed record with Dunlop tires, and he’d beat it once again under the same circumstances.
